Mark R. Mitchell - Partner Managing Director

Mark Mitchell is a Partner Managing Director of Ramius and Head of the Merger Arbitrage/Deep Value Opportunity group. Mr. Mitchell co-leads the Deep Value Opportunity group with Jeffrey Smith.

Mr. Mitchell joined Ramius in July 1999.  Mr. Mitchell was formerly a Managing Director of BT Alex Brown Inc., responsible for proprietary equity arbitrage trading in New York. Prior to joining Bankers Trust in 1993, Mr. Mitchell was an Associate Managing Director of Wertheim Schroder & Co. and a risk arbitrage trader at Wertheim from 1983 to 1993. 

Mr. Mitchell graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business with a B.S. in Economics. In addition, in 1988, while working full time at Wertheim, Mr. Mitchell earned an M.B.A. from the New York University, Stern School of Business.
